Tonight's crafts inspired by the letter K (and encyclopedia paper)

Hello wonderful blog friends I have been working on a couple of projects that I put the finishing touches on tonight (for now anyways) I am always revamping and changing things!

{scrap wood that is all stained up because I have been using for the citra solv transfer technique}

Here are the steps for the Key to my Heart project:

First cover old board in amazing old encyclopedia paper with mod podge on front and back ( you need a nice layer of mod podge on top of the papers to seal them to allow you to transfer your words onto the paper without ruining it.

Grab some crazy K's (or your favorite letter of the day) I found mine at Michaels for $1.00 yesterday 

Mod podge K with scrapbook paper, and sand those edges (I LOVE rough sandpaper---so much better than tracing and cutting and it gives the project a more finished look)

Pick a quote, print it in reverse and apply paper with mod podge, allow to dry and then remove paper with water (for the rest of this technique tutorial check out my blog post from this weekend)

{I didn't know if this technique would work on paper covered with mod podge, it worked wonderfully!}

Add ribbon and anything else and then hot glue onto sign

Kind of fun, easy and in expensive!

Side note:

On to our second K inspired project that I still even thought I tried, couldn't resist incorporating a page of encyclopedia paper.....can you tell I am loving this stuff?!?  I would love to hear ideas for more projects with vintage paper...!  Please do share!  Also....I am feeling bad because I have all of this paper and would love to share if you are thinking my projects are turning out cool and want some of your own.  Perhaps there is a way to share?!?

Chevron K Project:

Anyways onward, I am in love with chevron right now, you may be thinking who isn't?!?  But I just like all good crafters are thinking there must be a super crafty way to do this right?!?  I have big plans for the pattern but I decided to start small.  

Here is the technique I used THIS TIME, I will for sure be trying others because I am not sure this was the best....

*I should also note that I have a brand new sillouette that I have been dying to try.  I would love to try it for something like this but, well, you see, my sillouette and I are not on speaking terms at the moment.  Or maybe I should say my Mac and my sillouette are not talking right now...blahhh!  To sum the problem up, my computer won't eject the disc and the program won't work at all...while the cd drive is haivng problems....mac mall workers look out for me this weekend...I will be bothering you until that Sillouette program is ready to play nice!*

While I am excited to use my cutter I am always excited for ways around the cutter, this technique requires a print out I got mine here

Pin the peaks in the pattern somewhat lightly to your board

remove the paper, and use your pins as the design to follow to place painters tape ***I hate taking time to measure things so maybe this is why this technique appealed to me.

I removed my tape and realized I didn't want perfectly distinct lines so I distressed mine with sand paper so it looks a bit more vintage.

And when in doubt add a letter K covered in encyclopedia paper :o) 

Oooohhh okay I don't just randomly love the letter K, it is in-fact my last initial....but you probably knew that!
