My father's day project

Alright I must start this post by saying if you are my dad and you are reading this post DON'T scroll down....

Yes I have to say that because my dad is cute and checks my blog occasionally :o)  I have a great dad!

Anyways so on to my project!
I started this project knowing I wanted to incorporate the lyrics to the song that my dad and I dance to at my wedding.  From there I tried to use a paint chip---because this IS a Father's day project and I thought that would make it maybe a bit more manly?!?  Lets face it I don't think I was super successful!   It is the thought that counts right!?

I had some fun using one of my favorite crafting "materials" encyclopedia paper.  Annndd yess even for a gift I have no shame in saying I did some "recycling" of a frame I had around but wasn't using...

I got together a couple of pages of encyclopedia paper that had words on them that reminded me of my dad and used that to create the "matting" over top the original matting and also for the hearts that I punched out.  I used father, flight, and give as the main words---I always try to pick special ones!  I also used vellum to print the quotes on.

I just mod podged the paper onto the mat and then cut away the excess.

Then I picked a few lines from our "father daughter song" My Little Girl by Tim McGraw and printed them on vellum vertically and the quote "Father's hold their daughters hands for a little while but their hearts forever" at the top.

Here is the part of the song I used on the frame in case you can't make them out:

Tim McGraw: My Little Girl

You beautiful baby from the outside in
Chase your dreams but always know the road
That'll lead you home again
Go on, take on this whole world
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl

{Me and my dad dancing to "our" song}

I think Father's day is all about being thoughtful and I think this project is....  What doing to make your dad feel loved this Father's day?

I am linking up at some of these amazing parties---go visit them to be inspired!!!

I would've loved to have done something like this for my daddy, unfortunately I lost him suddenly & unexpectedly a few days before Thanksgiving. He was the best daddy a girl could ever have. He was a Godly man, and I am so blessed to have had him for 40 years. He would've really loved something like this. He always appreciated the handmade gifts that I made for him so much more than the store bought items. I got my crafty, artsy-fartsy side from him. Thanks for sharing so many wonderful ideas!
