Have you met Duck Egg Blue?

Hello friends!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  I had a great "break" from blogging and sincerely enjoyed a weekend away with my husband.  We got to spend some time with friends and enjoy some time just the two of us.  It was wonderful in every way!

Before I had left I finished this re-finish but just never got around to sharing it...
Just another up-cycle...but I love it, it makes me happy, and maybe you will fall in love with duck egg blue (the chalk paint color I played with this time) like I have.

Started out with another dark wood piece of furniture that I had.
I just don't love dark wood anymore.
Soooo it was on my list to get painted.

Much better right?
I love the little pop of color it adds to the room now.

Everything about it makes me happy.

And if there is one piece of advice I want to give you today it is this---
if you re-finish furniture or are thinking about it,
embrace the imperfections of the piece.
I swear when you embrace them and don't try to work against them they become even better.
I LOVE the odd wood grain on the top of this guy---it just makes it more unique.

What have you been up to?  What do you think about my new blog look...I think I am finally getting closer to the "right" fit.
:o)

And on a side note~
Thank you all for being so wonderful-your friendships are truly the reason I blog.

I am linking up at a few of these amazing parties!

  1. Oh I just love how well you distressed this table! Did you just use sand paper?

  10. WOW!! This looks great...I love it! I am not sure how I came across your blog about a month ago, but I'm now a dedicated stalker of it. :) I've already made your cute candles and LOVE those too. I am going to steal your idea for the little table but I have questions. Do I need to sand or prime before using chalkboard paint? Did you use more than one coat? To distress did you just sand the edges and then wax over it? Duck egg blue is my new fav...thanks for casting a vision in my head!! Keep up the awesome work!:)
