Okayyy sooo remember this corner that I was neglecting and finally decorated....?!
Welp the sweet sea inspired themed decor is gone.
Andddd it has been replaced with...
This guy. Ahhh I LOVE him!
He truly makes me smile!!!
Buttttt as with all of my treasured furniture pieces he didn't start out so pretty!
I am ashamed and very sorry to say that I neglected to take a true "before" photo, but this was when I was about an hour into my cleaning, dusting, spraying, vacuuming, and finally sanding. Lets just say this guy was a HUGE MESS prior to my attention.
Buttt now I am in love!
I am having so much fun actually organizing "stuff" inside of those old beautiful drawers.
I still haven't figured out what I would like to do as far as labels but I know I will find something perfect!
I can't wait to get some fall decor out and just really make this piece a highlight in my living room.
Anddd I am for sure thinking of something cool to hand above it! I am sure a project is soon to come!
What do you think?
Would you have taken the time to clean and sand and finish each of these 25 drawers???
Am I a total dork by thinking that it would be cool to do a drawer each day for a christmas countdown?!
Too bad I don't have any little ones to do that for....! I am not sure my husband would see that as something I needed to do!
Anyways, be sure to keep linking up at this weeks link-y party----I am having a blast seeing what you are up to!!!
And as always I am linking up to some of these amazing parties!
This is BEAUTIFUL, and totally worth your time and effort! I would smile every time I saw it.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! What an lovely piece of furniture! It looks perfect! You amaze me, really. I want to go thrift shopping with you so badly--we would have such a great time. :)
ReplyDeleteI love "him" ;) I always give a gender to the things I work on too! As you mentioned, the possibilities with those drawers...oooh!! It really is a treasure!!!
ReplyDeleteoh, how pretty he is :) I would have all those drawers filled with random stuff in no time at all.... He's going to look so great dressed for Fall!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece! Where did you find it? I have a similar piece in our family room. It's a wooden 6 drawer file cabinet with a small display case on top that belonged to my grandfather. It's perfect for holding our dvd collection. I should do a post about it.
ReplyDeleteI think I LOVE you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous piece!! I have been looking for one of these for years! {that I could actually afford!} We could be dorky together because 25 drawers just screams Christmas countdown! Amazing job Jaime!
ReplyDeleteJenn :)
love this piece!!! so charming!
ReplyDelete-emily
This is beautiful Jaime! Ya, I would have sanded each and every drawer...but my hubby would have HAD to get in on that! He couldn't have resisted.
ReplyDeleteWhat I want to know is...where is the cool beachy theme stuff that was in that corner? I am in love with that print/framed glass about love and counting waves.
Great find! These pieces are very popular, seems everyone loves the fun storage idea. As far as refinishing the piece, I think it looks great as is.
ReplyDeleteWhat a find! I know someone else asked... but where DID you find it? So unique, I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love it. It is absolutely gorgeous. What an amazing find. I would love one and yes I would sand and clean all 25 drawers. It is well worth it.
ReplyDeleteRuth

I have wanted a chest like that for a long time and he is a beauty! I giggled about the comment about the hubby not thinking the xmas countdown would be neccessary {an awesome idea by the way} because when do hubbies ever think anything us craft wives do is neccessary? LOL
ReplyDeleteI have to ask though since that window art was one of the first projects that led me to your wonderful blog, did you atleast keep it and put it somewhere else??
Gorgeous! I've been looking for something just like this for some time now, with no luck. I'm so jealous!--it's a beauty! If you have time I would love it if you would share your find at my linky party this week.
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic! and so worth all the effort. Do you know what it was originally used for? He looks like he has a story to tell.
ReplyDeleteOkay omggeee I love the way it was before as you can see at my blog I'm seriously in love with starfish. And I have a few laying around, so I must try the wicker basket thing. AND that quote. Why have I never seen that before?
ReplyDeleteOk so I know you got rid of what I am talking about and I do love the new library category card drawer/desk maybe you could use it to keep track of photos? Label the drawers by month? or CDs? I do love the Christmas idea (I esp love those countdown calendars with candy inside!). A treat everyday for a month! It's a great mature piece, hopeful I find something as beautiful one day!

Swoon. This is amazing. Definitely worth however many hours you had to spend cleaning. And I think a Christmas countdown is such a fun idea that you could definitely do for just you and your hubby. Who says kids get to have all the fun?
ReplyDeleteIs being jealous of a friend a bad thing? Lol...
ReplyDeleteIt's so beautiful ! I love your chalk paint jobs but I don't think I would paint this one, it's perfect ! Xo

It's cute. I've been using a smaller version for a coffee table for several years. Didn't really do anything to it but take it off it's leggy stand. Even kept the tags in each slot. And yes, it's fun to have all those drawers. Mine has seasonal decor items...small ones anyway. Also small hand weights for when we exercise (rarely ) in here.
ReplyDeleteI do like your countdown to Christmas idea. Go borrow a neighbor child. They'll be thrilled.
It's my favorite piece of your furniture, too! :7) Congrats on the find. That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteLiz
omgosh this is just so gorgeous i love all of your draws. Wow I have just finished my third ever redo which is nowhere near as big as yours but a bit cute, i would so love to own just one of those name plates to finish off my little table, lucky you to own so many LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat piece!! Looks fantatsic!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! I have wanted one of these forever! I ADORE the Christmas countdown idea. Now I want one really badly! I have an advent calendar with my kids and always come up with things way to big to put in the puny space. What a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone--myself included--wants to come steal that piece! I love it! I never find such cool pieces. Lucky lucky. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find this!?!? So pretty, you're so lucky!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! So worth the time and effort. Love your Christmas countdown idea too.
ReplyDeleteI have a library file cabinet just like yours. the only difference is mine is on legs. I keep all my art supplies in it. I have yet to label the drawers, trying to figure out what type of label to use.
ReplyDeleteLove this so much!
