An up-cycled trunk the crafty scrappy happy way!

Well guys---
for those of you who went over to vote for the One Month To Win It competitions----
did you guess this project was mine?

Since this round of the competition was spray paint---
I had some fun
Up-cycling this trunk.

Once again I am finding these competitions are great motivation to do projects that I have been putting off for a long LONG time!

I have had this trunk since this summer----
I paid $5 for it.
And made an attempt to paint it by hand....
that didn't work well so this treasure sat out in my garage for months.

I spray painted the entire trunk and then hand painted the white detailing.
To add the quote---which I ADORE {just in case you were wondering}
I just cut it out with my cutting machine {the silhouette}
And painted the words in using the cut vinyl as a stencil.

Just for an FYI here is the Krylon spray paint that I used---it was a metallic satin---so it wasn't too shiny.
It fit in perfectly with all of the lights, whites and grays that I have in my bedroom!

So this ended up being kind of a nice addition to my bedroom which many of you know was just made over.  And I also wanted to point out that the frame {on clearance from TJ Maxx}
was also spray painted to match.
And quite possibly my favorite part of all of this is that I framed some amazing hand written notes that I found in a vintage dental book---they are SUCH a treasure to me!
I know that script is popular right now----
I think EVERYONE should dig up old hand written notes and frame them----so SO cool.

So I think this is officially a crafty scrappy happy project because it means a lot to me.
I had so many set backs while I worked to become a dentist.... so this trunk, the quote and the scrip notes remind me to be persistent with all that I do!

  7. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it. What gave it away? Was it the beautiful photography? Was it the clean, crisp colors chosen for the craft? Was it the numbers? Hmmm, I'll just call it sure genius on my part:-)

  19. Hi Jaime! I'm so excited that I picked the right project to vote for. I just knew that it was your style! Not to mention it is such a great reminder to us all to never give up. We may fall but as long as we keep getting up it's never over. Failing is temporary, giving up is permanent. Great job my friend!! =)
