Sisterly LOVE

How much would you do for your sister?  Well mine would do A LOT for me...let me explain with a story!

This past weekend my sister dearest welcomed a new member into her family-a brand new Abbie mini, (Abbie being her current dog) a cute new weenie dog!  I can only imagine the excitement and joy that Lindsey was feeling when sending me a picture of the new pup via her picture phone with the caption "Meet Hayden, Abbies new sister".  And as the good sister I am I spent the appropriate amount of time ooo-ing and ahhhh-ing over the puppy picture and then proceeded to have a small breakdown....now this is where the plot thickens.  Cal and I have regularly debated to put it nicely over the names of our future children for the past 2 years at least and lets just say after a lot of debating Hayden has ended up very close to the top....  Now understanding that I am typically a good sister...I proceed to call my sister of course to first and foremost congratulate her on the pup...and then to break the news to her, I was going to be the most selfish, demanding and unreasonable sister she had that particular Saturday (I am her only sister...but that isn't the point).  I would say this is one of the most crazy things I have asked of her buttttt I am sure in our long 25 years together I have come up with worse.... So back to the story, yep you guessed it I asked my elated sister, who was celebrating and enjoying the wonder a new pup brings to a family, to change the name of her pup.  I know I know....she had already announced to the world via facebook that the pups name was Hayden buttttt my sister being the WONDERFUL sister she is after a bit of hassling AGREED to change her pups name.....  AWHHHH, this is where my story turns into a bit of a love fest.  What kind of a monster am I for asking Linds to do such a selfless thing for such a selfish me????  BUT you know what?  She didn't even make me feel that bad!!!!  Just goes to show how amazing this girl is.  She UNDERSTANDS when I ask crazy things of her like this that I am pretty serious.  She KNOWS how important babies are (TRUST me-babies are her area of expertise)---and I guess the babies name kind of goes along with that.  And so even though I will openly say that Hayden is in the top 2 or 3 names RIGHT NOW for baby boys (although Cal would debate the boy thing for the name Hayden-he thinks it would be cute for a girl too) and I am not necessarily even CLOSE to conceiving let alone having a baby-boy/girl, my dear sister changed the name of her puppy for me.  So, I now feel a little extra attachment to the name Hayden if it was Cal and I's future child's name (if we could be so blessed) it would remind me of the love it makes me feel for Linds my wonderful sister.  So in conclusion, my sister has a new little puppy named KAILEY and in a weird way I feel closer than ever to Linds....How am I SO DARN BLESSED to have such an amazing SISTER???

And speaking of funny name stories, I guess the names we are given are only so permanet anyways, just ask Lindsey, who, in second grade she changed her name to LIZZIE and I never let her forget it :o)
